FAQ – Premium Features and Licensing
We noticed that the Maps visual offers some features that require a license. What are these premium features?
The premium features include:
- Access to over 200 regional and global maps, in addition to the world map
- Display of more than 10 point coordinates and 5 routes
- Advanced interaction options (e.g., selection, centering, and auto-zoom)
- Display of charts (column, circle, and bubble charts with text inside)
- Custom grouping of shapes and custom hierarchies (e.g., to visualize your individual sales regions)
- Conditional map selection (e.g., switching to a more detailed map on drill actions)
- Color groups for convenient coloration of shapes, points, lines and charts
- Display of images as marker or chart elements
What is the best way to test the premium features?
The easiest way to try out all premium features is to subscribe to any of our licensing plans. All plans come with a free one-month trial and can be cancelled at any time before the trial period ends.
What license types are available, and does every user need a license or only report developers?
There is a single license type: “Maps Premium”, available in various plans based on team size (S, M, L, XL, and Unlimited), each with a different price per user.
A license is required for every individual who views or edits a report that includes the Maps visual. All licenses are named licenses, meaning each must be assigned to a specific user.
We are using Power BI Embedded, Power BI in national/regional clouds, Power BI Report Server, Publish to Web, or export to PDF/PPT using the REST API. Will the visual work in these environments?
Yes, the visual will function in your environment. However, per-user licensing via Microsoft AppSource is not supported in these scenarios, which prevents access to the premium features.
But don’t worry – we offer an alternative licensing solution for these cases. Please contact us directly to discuss the details.
