KPI Tree FAQ Licensing
What are the limitations of the free version?
Unlike many other custom visuals, KPI Tree does not have premium-only features. You can explore all features of KPI Tree for free.
However, the free version limits the amount of data displayed: without a license, only five cards will be visible, rather than the full hierarchy.
How can I test the visual without limitations?
The easiest way to try KPI Tree without limitations is to subscribe to any of our licensing plans. All plans include a free one-month trial and can be cancelled at any time before the trial ends.
What are the available license types?
There are two types of licenses:
- KPI Tree Premium Named (per user)
- KPI Tree Premium Flat (organization-wide)
KPI Tree Premium Named
This license must be assigned to each individual who views or edits a report using the KPI Tree visual. Pricing varies by team size:
- S (1–50 users): $0.99/user/month or $9.99/user/year
- M (51–100 users): $0.89/user/month or $8.99/user/year
- L (101–200 users): $0.79/user/month or $7.99/user/year
- XL (200+ users): $0.69/user/month or $6.99/user/year
KPI Tree Premium Flat
This license unlocks the visual for all users without assigning individual licenses.
- Price: $2,999/year
- Availability: Sold via Microsoft AppSource as a per-user plan for one user.
- Important: You do not need to assign the license to a user. After purchase, you will receive the license information via email. To activate the visual, enter the license info in the visual’s formatting settings.
Do All Users Need a License?
Yes. Every individual who views or edits a report containing the KPI Tree visual must have a valid license.
- With Named licensing, each user must be assigned a license.
- With the Flat license, the visual is unlocked for all users.
We are using Power BI Embedded, Power BI in national/regional clouds, Power BI Report Server, Publish to Web, or export to PDF/PPT using the REST API. Will the visual work in these environments?
Yes, the visual will function in your environment. However, Named licensing is not supported in these environments. To remove the free version limitations, you must use the KPI Tree Premium Flat license.
